Is fruit considered a High Glycemic food?

Why? Is there certain types of fruit that are in a low glycemic? Im trying to lose weight and someone told me to eat fruit ONCE in a while and mainly stick to veggies since they're low glycemic as well as rice. What are other examples of low glycemic complex carbs?

Search for GI lists of various foods. Some Fruits are not high GI because of the fiber content and proportion of their sugar that is in the form of fructose. Fructose is processed in the body in a non-insulin dependent manner. So with proper selection and moderation, you can eat fruit regularly. Avoid eating fruit near bedtime.

A large volume of veggies are important to a heathly diet. Creative prep is the key to making veggies satisifying.

Help with smaller waist!?

I'm trying to get my waist from a 26 inch to a 24 inch and get rid of the fat layer around my abs.

I'm 5'5 and about 115-120 lbs.

I'm trying to eat healthily, focusing on low glycemic foods, and I'm pretty active, from 20-45minutes of running a day plus weight work and abs. Is there anything else I can do to cut at least two inches from my waist? and how long till i may reach my goal?

I don't mind if its hard, im motivated;)

at 5 foot 5, you should have a 26 inch waist!! mine is 25 and i have a completely flat, naturally tiny stomach, so 24 is an unreasonable and unhealthy aim. it has a lot to do with your natural body shape.

weight work won't take off anything. it will convert it to muscle. the best thing you can do is swim as it is the best for toning up.

even if you swim 5k a day, do 500 sit ups and push 100lbs, you won't reach your aim. you will gain too much muscle tone. the best you can probably do is a 25 inches, and even then it will take 2-3 months.

the only way you can get a 24 inch waist is by starving yourself and not exercising, which would cause you to lose superficial things like your boobs and worse things like your bone density.

to lose 1 inch off your waist, you have to lose about a stone overall. do you really want that?

Is it possible to go vegetarian and low carb?

I need to lose some weight and It seems that most vegetarian foods are in the high glycemic range

I plan to hover around 1500 calories a day, stick to low glycemic index foods, lots of fruits and veggies, my usual exercise regimen (I exercise 1-2 hours broken up through the day like bike rides, pilates, weights, etc). Can I do it, or do I lack willpower and motivation? C'mon, be honest!

A FEW THINGS TO REMEMBER:
The correct way to burn fat and stay healthy is to burn more calories than you consume
You need to make sure you are eating healthy foods while still excercising
If you have a big appetite drink plenty of water so that you will feel full but not consume calories
But you should always eat
If you start to skip meals you will only be more hungry at your next meal and probably eat way too much
Remember, the average persons stomach is as big as a slice of pizza scrunched up into a ball
So you shouldnt be putting more food into your stomach than what fits
Also, it takes aproximately 15-20 minutes for your brain to realize that you are full
so eat slower and you will realize sooner when you are not hungry anymore
